THIS FILE ONLY APPLIES IF YOU ARE UPGRADING A PREVIOUS VERSION OF
HOME-RUN AND/OR ARE A REGISTERED HOMERUN USER.
=====================================================================
Registered Users : Upgrading to HomeRun Version 1.1
Dear Registered User,
Firstly, thank you for registering. Now the good news - HomeRun v1.1
has a number of significant advantages which are set out in the version
history section of the HOMERUN.TXT file and in line with our 1 time
registration policy, your existing registration continues in effect.
However, 1 of the changes in v1.1 concerns the location of the .INI
file which amongst other things contains your registration information.
The change of location stems from a number of requests (largely from
folk with nice big RAM SSDs) to handle your default drive settings more
appropriately. This is also in line with what appears to be the
emerging view that wherever possible apps should cater for LOC::M:\ to
be as free as possible.
In version 1.0, the .INI file was located as follows - HomeRun was
installed on a writable and compressible drive (ie RAM), the .INI file
was placed in a \HOMERUN\ directory below where the .APP was located.
Alternatively, the .INI file was placed in LOC::M:\RHS\. For example if
you have HOMERUN.APP in LOC::M:\APP\, then the .INI file will be
LOC::M:\APP\HOMERUN\HOMERUN.INI or supposing you've put HOMERUN.APP on a
FLASH drive, then the .INI will be LOC::M:\RHS\HOMERUN.INI
In version 1.1, the .INI file will be attempted to be put on a \HMR\
directory off the root of your default drive regardless of where the
.APP is located. If the default drive is RAM, this will be transparent
but if not then a dialog appears from which you can pick any RAM or
FLASH drive (although the latter is not recommended). Once a .INI file
has been established in any \HMR\ directory no further prompting occurs.
What this means in practice is that if you do not copy your existing
.INI file to an appropriate location, it will not be found and v1.1 will
appear UNREGISTERED. You should therefore :
EITHER - Create a \HMR\ directory on any RAM or FLASH drive and copy
your existing .INI to this location.
OR - Simply re-enter your registration code.
You can then of course delete the previous .INI file.
My apologies for this inconvenience, but I hope you will appreciate the
reasons behind the change. I did consider building an automatic
conversion routine into the .APP but on the whole felt that the extra
bytes resulting were not justified for what I hope will be a relatively
simple one off change.
Best regards,
Chris Hennings.
